Learn how to make pizza night a breeze with this homemade pizza dough recipe. My son loves pizza all shapes and sizes. This recipe has helped me get away from buying frozen pizza or bagel bites. We love experiment with pizza, my husband has started to smoke pizza and it takes it to a whole new level. This recipe turs out soft, chewy, and delicious.
Try this for your next pizza night, very simple and can be made and eaten the same day unlike my sourdough pizza crust.
Perfect for baked in the oven or grilled on the smoker. You can make this recipe ahead and frozen for later use.
Dough Ingredients
1 teaspoon of active dry yeast
2 teaspoons of honey
2 1/2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of salt
Directions
- Place the honey and yeast in 1 cup warm water. Stir mixture. Let the mixture to sit for 2 minutes to make sure the yeast is alive; it should foam and start to bubble.
- Put the flour and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook or mix and knead by hand. Add the yeast mixture and mix on low speed until the mixture starts to come together. Turn the speed up to medium and mix for 6 minutes. The dough should start to pull away from the sides but still remain soft and slightly sticky. Add extra flour if needed. Coat your hands in a bit of olive oil and form the dough into a ball. Place the dough in a bowl that is coated in olive oil. Cover with a towel and let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
- Push down the dough and divide into equal parts to make two pizzas or form back into ball if using the dough for one. Let rise 1 more hour.
- Dough is ready to use or freeze.
- Freeze for up to three months.
How to freeze and Bake Homemade Pizza Dough
To freeze dough spray plastic wrap with cooking spray then place dough in center and cover with plastic wrap. Place in freezer bag and put in freezer for up to three months.
You can thaw your pizza dough in the fridge overnight then let it sit out on the counter to rise about 30 minutes before you bake it.
