
Cherry Bread French Toast
Try this moist cherry bread as french toast or enjoy a slice with a cup of coffee.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1/2 cup of olive oil
- 1/2 cup of half and half
- 1/4 cup of cherry juice
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup of sour cream
- 2 cups of flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 11 ounce jar of marchino cherries
- 1 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 2 Tablespoons of heavy whipping cream
- 8 eggs
- 1/4 cup of half and half
- 1 Tablesppon of cinnamon
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. in a large bowl combine the sugar, vanilla extract, olive oil, cherry juice, half and half, eggs and sour cream.
3. In another bowl sift together flour, salt and baking powder.
4. Drain cherries and chop into small pieces.
5. Sprinkle the cherries with 2 tablespoons of flour and stir to coat..
6. Combine the flour with the wet mixture and stir well.
7. Fold cherries into mixture, making sure to not over mix.
8. Line a 9X5 loaf pan with parchment paper.
9. Pour mixture into loaf pan and place in the oven.
10. Cook for 40 minutes then cover the top with foil to prevent top of the bread from overdarkening. Place into oven and bake for 20 more minutes. Stick a toothpick in the bread if it comes out clean take the bread out and place on a cooling rack to cool.
11. When the bread is cooled, remove from pan.
12. In a shallow dish whisk 4 eggs and add a 1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of vanilla
13. Over medium heat melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Dip bread in egg mixture coat all sides, place in skillet and cook 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
14. Combine heavy whipping cream vanilla and powdered sugar and stir together until smooth. Drizzle over French toast.
Notes
The half and half and heavy whipping cream my be substitedted with regular milk.

Cherry Bread
The first cherry bread I tasted was from Bob Evans restaurant. At the time they had Cherry, banana, and blueberry loaf bread. We started to buy the loaves to eat at home. My husband cooked cherry bread French toast for me, and I was hooked. Bread is my all-time favorite.
Fast forward quite a few years and they no longer made the cherry bread. So here we are this recipe is very easy to make and turned out as delicious as I remembered. This moist cherry bread is packed with cherries and is a great snack the kids will love.
Cherry Bread French Toast
Ingredients
For the bread
2 Cups of flour
1/2 Teaspoon of salt
1 1/2 Teaspoons of baking powder
3/4 Cup of granulated sugar
1 Teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/2 Cup of olive oil
1/2 Cup of Half and Half
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup of sour cream
2 Cups of flour
1/2 Teaspoon of salt
11 Ounce jar of Maraschino cherries
For the French Toast:
8 Eggs
1 Tablespoon of cinnamon
1/2 Cup of heavy whipping cream
For the Icing:
1 Cup of sifted powdered sugar
1 Teaspoon of vanilla
2+ Tablespoons of heavy whipping cream
Directions

Tips:
The cherry juice will make your bread a pink tint. You can add a few drops of red food coloring if you want a brighter red color.
Add more cherries
Coating the cherries in flour will help them stay in place in the bread and not sink to the bottom
Add chocolate chips
